I created the LED-neon installation "MIGHT WITHOUT MORALITY" to be a visceral, unmissable warning sign within the contemporary political landscape.
My intention was to strip down a complex ethical crisis into its most elemental and urgent form. The phrase itself is drawn from the devastating critique of power unchecked by conscience: a clear message that possessing "might without morality" puts us on a path to a "long, dark, and shameful" future. I'm not just reflecting on history; I'm creating an emergency signal for the present moment.
The decision to use vivid red LED-neon was crucial. Red is inherently an attention-grabbing, immediate color—it is the color of danger, of stop signs, and of critical alerts. This piece is not subtle; it is meant to feel like an undeniable alarm ringing in the viewer's mind, compelling them to confront the stark reality of how power is currently wielded, both globally and locally. The glowing red text serves as a literal beacon, drawing people in, only to hit them with a chilling and pointed challenge.
This installation is my visual manifesto. It forces a pause and demands that the viewer reflect on the ethical void in leadership today—whether in governance, corporate decisions, or military action. "MIGHT WITHOUT MORALITY" is a direct challenge to complacency, illuminating the profound and urgent necessity for compassion and moral accountability in a world increasingly defined by brute force and a lack of foresight. It’s a call to action to consider the implications of our collective choices.
