The Gamble of Governance

2024, repurposed slot machine, with custom internal blinking LED lights, 20" X 12" X 10"

"The Gamble of Governance" (2024) by Keith Francis. A conceptual sculpture made from a repurposed, dark-wood-bodied slot machine. The top display features the phrase "SHOW ME!" in white serif text on a green, radiating background, with a gold eagle sculpture mounted above. The traditional gambling reels are replaced with logos from U.S. government agencies like Medicare and National Defense, and a red "TAX" arrow points to the coin mechanism. The work critiques government spending priorities.
