We Reap What We Sow

2024, found object; 55" X 14.5" X 14"

“We Reap What We Sow,” 2024, by Keith Francis. This conceptual installation stands 55 inches tall, featuring a functional-looking white floor-model water cooler. The standard clear plastic 5-gallon jug on top, designed to hold clean drinking water, is instead filled to the brim with a dense collection of colorful plastic debris, wrappers, and unidentifiable refuse salvaged from the banks of the Acushnet River in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The work creates a stark visual irony to address contemporary concerns about environmental sustainability and pollution.
